Shine is a story based upon a cyborg that is wired to the moon. His eyes emit a swirling radar attracting him to his planet of origin.

Only, upon the way to the mothership his path is blocked by all sorts of strange robots and mystical beasts.

Will he make it home?

Shine’s story is my own original story, which I successfully pitched to a musician after he originally asked me for a music video at his performance in a jazz bar in Bristol. He said about collaborating together for his new, electric guitar song ‘Shine’.

After I had half baked the idea, I asked about the budget. To my dismay there wasn’t one, however I was still expected by the musician to make an action packed, character driven, 6 minute music video?!

Ok, I will try not to be angry but generally PEOPLE DON’T VALUE ANIMATION, they don’t understand the time and energy it takes, OR, they think they don’t need to pay them for their trouble in the first place, OR WORST YET! ALL THREE.

The saddening thing is, HE IS AN ARTIST/MUSICIAN himself. He should know the struggle, he has a monetised Youtube with fans and followers, I didn’t even have a following on youtube then and now it’s only 18, and he wants me to do it for love. NO!

BUT….

I did make something, because I am a nice person (teehee) AND I can make something for love and for free!

Well, of course, it was a tragedy, I wanted to make the original idea but HOW COULD I AFFORD TO EAT or NOT WASTE 6 YEARS OF MY LIFE ON IT working in any free time I get.

Plus, my skills in character animation aren’t strong like my colour and background, flowing animation skills, so it would have taken me to the edge of hell.

I allowed him to use it for free and he didn’t like it, of course, you wouldn’t when you’ve been promised a toilet seat made from gold.

Note to self, next time don’t promise the world before the budget is clear.

Yes, it isn’t the amazing story I had thought up. However it is a free piece of video art which can be projected during a live show over the band. It would look phenomenal.
